Jin Shin Do® Body Mind Acupressure® (JSD) is a form of acupressure used to encourage harmony and balance between physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual energy. It assists the reduction of pain, stimulates the immune system, and encourages emotional freedom. JSD interacts with meridians, promoting physical well-being and facilitating inner exploration. Barriers and patterns often experienced as pain and limitation can be contacted, released, and rebalanced. JSD is an effective tool in supporting physical healing, bodymind integration, and emotional and spiritual growth.

From the Jin Shin Do® website: “Jin Shin Do” means “The Way of the Compassionate Spirit.” Jin Shin Do® Body Mind Acupressure® uses gentle yet deep finger pressure on specific acu-points and verbal Body Focusing techniques, to help release “armoring” or chronic tension, balance the “Qi” or energy, and improve vitality. This clothes-on method helps relieve stress and trauma-related problems. A unique synthesis of a traditional Japanese acupressure technique, classic Chinese acu-theory, Taoist philosophy, Qigong (breathing and exercise techniques), Reichian segmental theory, and principals of Ericksonain psychotherapy, Jin Shin Do® acupressure was originated by Iona Marsaa Teeguarden. www.jinshindo.org

“I have been in the field of energetic bodywork and massage therapy for more than 25 years. Jin Shin Do® is the most effective technique I use. It helps reduce pain and improve physical well-being when other modalities are ineffective. In addition it opens the door for true bodymind connection.” Synthia Andrews, ND

Jin Shin Do® is a usable technique from the very first course. It is designed to be immediately accessible and health-promoting. For many, the basic course provides enough information to augment their existing practice or assist family members. Others seek certification in the Jin Shin Do® Bodymind Acupressure® method. Certification is obtained through a 500 hour series of three modules of courses. Some course work can be transferred from other programs. For additional information see the Jin Shin Do® website.

Synthia Andrews has been a Jin Shin Do® Foundation authorized teacher since 1994. She teaches the first two courses in the certification program. She also co-authored the book Acupressure and Reflexology for Dummies, Wiley Press, in 2007.

Case studies are used to demonstrate assessment and session planning. JSD Basic is the first course in the JSD practitioner certification program.
