Reiki
Reiki is an ancient form of Tibetan healing rediscovered in the late 20th century in Japan by Dr. Mikao Usui.
The word Reiki is made of two Japanese words - Rei which means "God's Wisdom or the Higher Power" and
Ki which is "life force energy". Reiki is commonly translated as "spiritually guided life force energy."
The practice of Reiki starts as a simple laying-on of hands and progresses to using symbols for goal
enhancement, long distance healing, conflict resolution, peace meditation, manifesting and much more. Although
the practice of Reiki has become very common place, few use and understand its true transformative potential.
Reiki is not a teaching; it’s a transmission. Once this transmission is received your ability to channel powerful
life force is magnified. This life force is directed to a specific use by your intention. Understanding the role of
clean and clear intent is an important aspect of using Reiki. Reiki classes are a succession of transmissions
along with general guidance on how the transmissions can be used. Each class progresses deeper into the
potential of self-realization.
Reiki I- $110
This is a one day, 7 hour class where students receive the initial Reiki transmission. Class discussion covers the
history of Reiki, its primary principles, what subtle energy is and how Reiki refines and enhances it. Students
dialogue about their fears of “negative energy” and the role of intention. A simple protocol for laying-on hands
is also taught; students give and receive sessions.
Reiki II- $225
This is a two day, 15 hour class where the second level of Reiki transmission is received. Students learn that
situations are easily changed by moving the energy that maintains them. Long distance healing, manifesting,
resolution skills, space clearing, goal enhancement and more are covered over the two days. Students will have
the opportunity to work with different situations while receiving individual guidance from the instructor. Major
obstacles to proficiency, such as limiting attitudes and beliefs, are discussed and worked with. It’s an action
packed two day adventure in energy!
Reiki III-$500
This is a two day, 16 hour mastership course providing the final high power transmission in the traditional Usui
Reiki practice (some new forms of Reiki have been developed that provide transmissions for 33 levels of
Reiki). In this course students learn how to give transmissions for Reiki I, II and III. How to teach Reiki is
emphasized with developing class structure and content. What it means to be a “Master” is explored along with
common pitfalls, such as abuse of power, ego trips and loss of clear intent. This course is really intended for
those who are called to embrace the path of a teacher in the Reiki tradition.
Reiki for Cancer Patients -$125
Pre-requisite: Reiki I
This one day, 8 hour class was designed by the instructor to address the special needs of cancer patients. It’s
intended for care givers and patients both and can be taken by professional massage therapists. It covers the
specifics of cancer in its many forms, common treatments and treatment reactions, special needs and
considerations and useful Reiki tidbits. Class discussion is a large part of the course.
About the Teacher
Synthia has been a massage and energy body-worker for over 25 years. She has been practicing the original
Usui method of Reiki since 1992. She brings to the class a deep understanding of the mechanisms of subtle
energy, as well as skills in helping people feel energy and work with it. Research she has conducted with her
husband Colin Andrews into sacred geometry brings fresh awareness into the symbols used in Reiki.
Synthia is certified in Medical Massage and Massage for Cancer Patients. She graduated Naturopathic College
in 2008 and will soon be a licensed naturopathic physician. She brings the most recent cancer research and her
own personal experience to her Reiki class for cancer patients and care givers.
